The Richard Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted the annual Ringing of the Bells celebration on Wednesday to commemorate Constitution Week and the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Wednesday afternoon, approximately five minutes before the event’s start time, DAR chapter Regent Penny Lockerman was caught between a rock and a hard place. The pastor who was scheduled to give the opening invocation to the celebration was unable to attend due to an unforeseen personal matter. With each agonizing moment ticking by, Lockerman was forced to either find a new person for the job or give the invocation herself.
