Pittsburgh's Department of Public Safety said it's once again expanding its Deer Management Program for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, which begins Saturday.
According to a release, the program is in partnership between the city of Pittsburgh and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, with its goal being to manage the overpopulation of white-tailed deer in city parks. Advertisement
During the 2024-2025 season, the release said the program included archery-controlled hunts in Frick, Schenley, Highland, Riverview, and Emerald View Parks. The expanded program, the release stated, will additionally take place in Hays Woods, McKinley Park, Hazelwood Greenway, Southside Park, and Seldom Seen Greenway.
