WINFIELD, Kan. (KSNW) — The National Flat Pick Guitar Championship crowned a new champion Saturday at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield.

Carl Miner of Nashville, Tennessee, took first place among 21 contestants, adding his name to the festival’s storied legacy. Miner chose a Collings Winfield Model Guitar, built in Austin, Texas, as his prize.

Second place went to Adam Shier of Toronto, Canada, who selected a Preston Thompson D-MA Guitar. Jakob Thomas of South Charleston, West Virginia, placed third and took home a Martin HD-28 Modern Deluxe Guitar.

Runners-up included Hayes Griffin of Columbus, Ohio, and Kilby James of Toronto, Canada.
