A vacant building with two-story apartments over commercial uses in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles sustained heavy fire damage Saturday.
The fire was reported at 1:29 p.m. Saturday at 8620 W. Third St. between Willaman and Sherbourne drives, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. It was out at 2:11 p.m.
It took 77 firefighters 42 minutes to get into the 3,981-square-foot building, confine the fire and put it out, Humphrey said.
The boarded-up structure built in 1937 had two-story apartments over ground level and basement commercial space, he said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
