ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Spanish-language journalist who has been in ICE custody for months is at risk of being deported.

Mario Guevara, a Salvadoran journalist, is facing deportation and “could be put on a deportation plane at any moment,” the ACLU said.

An emergency hearing was scheduled last-minute Friday evening. The Board of Immigration Appeals, an executive agency whose members are appointed by the White House, said Guevara was at rick of deportation, citing a 13-year-old deportation order they discovered in his file.

While no “concrete decisions” were made at Friday’s hearing, according to the ACLU, more motions will be heard by the BIA next week.
