Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell has branded a new star on the programme ‘an icon’ as her fans provided a nickname for them.

Dianne had a busy night on the BBC programme, which returned for its 23rd season on Saturday night (September 20) for its annual launch show.

The Australian native won the Glitterball trophy for the first time last year with blind comedian Chris McCausland.

Following months of showcasing their skills, Chris and Dianne beat Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec in the final to take home the Glitterball trophy.

Remaining friends since the series concluded, Dianne made a cameo in the launch night’s opening skit where Chris stole the trophy they won last year.
