NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – State Representative Gabe Vasquez announced he is running for the 2nd Congressional District Seat again for the 2026 Election. His campaign was announced on Saturday.

Vasquez has been the incumbent of the 2nd Congressional Seat since 2022; before that, he served on the Las Cruces City Council from 2017 to 2021. New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District covers the southern half of the state.

So far, Vasquez is the only person to run for CD2.
