LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky lawmaker wants more frequent checks on the safety of roads in the commonwealth.

Many state roads in Nelson County show worn out yellow paint, making it extremely difficult to see and dangerous at night.

Emergency Management director Brad Metcalf is in full support of a new proposal by State Rep. Candy Massaroni to require more regular quality checks of state roads across Kentucky.

“If we can’t see the roads ourselves, we have to slow down to make sure that we’re not the next accident,” Metcalf explained. “We’re trying to get to that scene, not become the next victim.”

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said it is continuing to work with the bill sponsors to provide “relevant and accurate” information to inform their legislative proposal.
