A South Alabama team coming off a solid road showing against an SEC opponent and playing at home as a double-digit favorite largely failed to show up for its Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday.

The Jaguars lost 38-20 at Hancock Whitney Stadium to Coastal Carolina, a team that had scored just 20 points all season coming in. South Alabama (1-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) has now lost three straight games, squandering any momentum after playing tough in a 31-15 loss at Auburn last week.
