DENVER (KDVR) — A climbing accident on Saturday in Idaho Springs left one person dead.

The Idaho Springs Police Department said around 3:05 p.m., emergency responders from the department, in conjunction with Clear Creek Fire Authority, Clear Creek EMS and Alpine Rescue Team, responded to a climbing accident on the 400 block of Highway 103. A Flight for Life helicopter was also immediately dispatched.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office had also reported the incident was on "private property."

In an update at 4:50 p.m., agencies were conducting a "high-angle operation" to bring the person off the mountainside, according to the sheriff's office.

On Saturday evening, both the sheriff's office and the police department confirmed a person had died after they fell.
