SALISBURY — A Salisbury man serving a life sentence for beating his father to death in 2018 has been charged with murder in connection to a 2005 homicide in Georgia.

Juan Renuardo Chunn, 56, is currently incarcerated in the Columbus Correctional Institution in Whiteville after being convicted in 2021 of bludgeoning his father to death with an oxygen tank . The warrant for murder was obtained by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, according to a release.

The newest charge comes after a 20-year investigation that began when deputies responded to a home in Augusta on Aug. 20, 2005 and found 19-year-old Catrina Beatrice Evans dead with multiple stab wounds and her 13-month-old child crawling around her feet, according to reporting by the Augusta Chro
