SOUTH BEND — Purdue football must be well past tired of the thunder and lightning — from the skies above and from Notre Dame 's incendiary offense.

The Boilermakers were outclassed Saturday for the first time this season, falling 56-30 at No. 21 Notre Dame. They waited out a two-hour lightning delay — yes, another one — scored twice in the final 91 seconds of the first half and kept displaying a measure of offensive spunk.
