The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting residents to participate in a celebration of the state's public lands and waters on Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28. Events will be held across the state.

National Public Lands Day on Saturday is the nation’s largest single day of volunteerism on public lands. Participants can engage in various programs listed at dnr.IN.gov/places-to-go/events or on.IN.gov/dnrvolunteer . Collecting trash at a nearby DNR property is encouraged as a way to protect wildlife and promote healthy natural resources.

Saturday also marks National Hunting and Fishing Day and the last Free Fishing Day of the year. Indiana residents can fish public waters without a license. Resources for anglers are available in the DNR Fishing Guide
