As someone who calls 30-year-olds “kids” and uses phrases like “the good ole days,” I’ve seen plenty of landmarks come and go at Auburn, my alma mater.

I graduated in 1987 and have fond memories of places like Hooligan’s and The Pitcher Show (a theater that served pitchers of beer at tables as a movie played). I visited campus when my daughter was a student and was always surprised by the changes. I recently tracked down an old friend from my college days who has not returned to campus since graduation. When I told her there’s a Target in Auburn’s tiny downtown ,, she was in disbelief. I get it. I’ve been inside that Target and still can’t believe it.
