Britain's mightiest grandmother is heading for Birmingham having smashed FOUR world records just 18 months after stumbling into powerlifting "by accident".

Martine Barons, from Warwickshire , has emerged as a four-time champion aged 65 following her performances for Great Britain at the World and European Championships.

The 5ft 6ins mother-of-three, who has four grandchildren, began weight training for enjoyment in December 2023 but quickly discovered she possessed a remarkable talent.

Martine has been training five sessions weekly for two hours daily - all while maintaining her full-time role as an academic researcher at Warwick University.
