TOWN OF LORRAINE, New York (WWNY) - A 16-year-old boy in the Town of Lorraine partially amputated his leg Saturday in a dirt bike crash.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on an ATV trail near Hessel Road in the Town of Lorriane around 12:45 PM. The 16-year-old boy apparently struck a fallen tree partially covering the tail, which partially amputated the lower part of his leg.

The boy’s parents, friends, and family tried to locate the boy on the trails with their UTV as police, EMS, and fire personnel were being called to the area to help locate the injured teenager.
