An investigation continued Saturday into the death of a man riding a skateboard who was struck and killed by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle in the Highland Park area.

The crash occurred at 7:23 p.m. Friday at Woodside Drive and North Figueroa Street, LAPD Officer Drake Madison told City News Service. That location is next to Sycamore Grove Park.

Family members told KCAL the man was 30-year-old Gerardo Estrada. The Medical Examiner’s office reported that Estrada died from blunt force injuries in an accident.

A vigil was held in memory of Estrada about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, about the same time and location where he died, KCAL reported.
