COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Kootenai Kat Club’s International Cat Show opened at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, drawing cat enthusiasts from near and far.
The two-day event features competitive cat judging, breed education and activities for families. Julie Laney, president of the Kootenai Kat Club, shared her thoughts on the event’s appeal.
“It’s a hobby. Just like any other hobby dog shows. Our fancy is dying out,” Laney said. “We have a lot of older exhibitors, we have a lot of older judges and we really need to bring in a new audience.”
Laney highlighted some of the unique offerings available at the show, including educational booths and genetic seminars.
