PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks went above and beyond Saturday night for a 99-year-old Philadelphia Phillies fan receiving hospice care.

Earl Kreider, a World War II veteran living in Phoenix, has loved baseball since he was a boy. With his health declining, Saturday’s game was expected to be the last time he could see his beloved Phillies in person.

The Diamondbacks coordinated with the Phillies to give Kreider and his family a VIP experience at Chase Field. Kreider, along with his son, grandson and great-grandchildren, was brought onto the field before the game.

There, he met Phillies owner John Middleton, president Dave Dombrowski and several star players. The family took photos and collected autographs from the team.
