CLEMSON, S.C. (WWTI) - Syracuse football got the biggest road win of the Fran Brown era with a 34-21 upset over defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Clemson Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Orange (3-1) scored the first touchdown of the game when Steve Angeli found  Justus Ross-Simmons for a touchdown pass. Syracuse then pulled off a surprise onside kick and converted that extra possession into a field goal to make it 10-0.

Clemson (1-3) got the game to within 10-7 before Will Nixon got a nine-yard touchdown run to give SU a 10-point lead again at 17-7. The Orange then made it 24-7 thanks to Darrell Gill Jr. making an over-the-shoulder catch an Angeli pass. Clemson did get a late first-half touchdown to make it 24-14 before a lengthy lightning delay pushed the start of the second
