Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. began his remarks by saying he is proud that Danville has produced many national figures, such as Zeke Bratkowski, a Schlarman High School graduate who excelled for decades in national sports and Irving Azoff, renowned musician for decades, a Danville High School graduate who championed many well-known entertainment stars for decades.
He then discussed taxes, explaining the process of the County Assessor’s assessment of which the taxpayer pays 33.3% of the assessed amount. A portion of property taxes go to our city, county, local and county school districts, and Danville Area Community College. The city has lowered our tax rate from 2.29% to 1.69%.
