Drag performer says 'toxic' Scots scene has been 'destroyed by recent drama'

Scots drag performers have called out a culture of toxic bullying they say enforces 'homophobic' stereotypes and has "destroyed" the scene. ‌

Our sister title Edinburgh Live reported last week on drag queen and DJ Lucy Grant spreading false rumours that rival performer Andrew Donohoe was having sexual relationships with underage drag queens. ‌

Ruairidh Bowen, 31, performs drag as Rujazzle. The Edinburgh local has garnered enviable success in the scene, working as manager for entertainment at Brewhemia and recently opening for Chappell Roan during her massive sold-out gig at the Royal Highland Centre. ‌

Speaking from his decade-long tenure in the drag scene, Ruairidh claimed it has "always been toxic" and that recent drama has "destroyed the scene".
