STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – Five people were injured after a driver crashed into a fire truck on the Staten Island Expressway early Sunday morning, according to the FDNY.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on the Staten Island Expressway near the Dr. MLK Jr. Expressway. A vehicle crashed into the back of a fire truck, which was responding to an earlier crash, fire officials said.

One person had to be rescued from the wreckage, officials said. Five people were hospitalized, including one firefighter, fire officials said.
