OWENSBORO, Ky. — A grassroots effort to provide feminine hygiene products to women in need drew an outpouring of community support Saturday, filling storage rooms at local churches just hours into the event.
Organized by the Owensboro chapter of "We Are She! She Is Me!," the "Donate Dignity" drive collected menstrual pads, tampons, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, diapers, pull-ups, hygiene wipes and hair ties.
The event, held at Saint Pius Church on the city's east end and New Life Church on the west end, aimed to restock shelters, schools and other community services where such essentials are often overlooked.
