DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- Hundreds of people made their way to Carlisle Saturday to celebrate the life of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in Utah earlier this month.
Much of the lawn at Roscoe Roof Park was filled with people as part of what was just one of many vigils and remembrances taking place across the country.
When the sun went down, hundreds of candles were shining as people stood side by side, joining in prayer and worship as they celebrated Kirk.
"We rallied some of the people at our church and decided that this was something that we wanted to be a part of,” said Megan Thornton, worship leader at the Journey Community Church.
The outreach from an event on Facebook grew to reach nearly 1,500 people.
