Tuesday marked the one year anniversary for 8 Star Events Center, which celebrated by holding an open house.

A steady stream of visitors — some regular attendees of events there over the past year and some newcomers — checked out what the venue has to offer at 1485 30th Ave.

The grand building, the former Friends Church, became Fairbanks’ newest performance and convention center one year ago after the building was purchased by Jon and Amanda Huff of Fairbanks. The Huffs also own Alaska Universal Productions, a full-service event company that provides everything for audio/visual production including rentals, sales and event supplies.

“Overall, one of the big benefits of coming here is the added value of me and my other companies,” Jon Huff said, when he opened the venue a year ago
