TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — The Alzheimer's Association hosted its annual Texarkana walk to end Alzheimer's at Spring Lake Park.
This event is about fundraising and raising awareness for those impacted by the disease. Attendee Tammy Thompson, whose mother is dealing with the disease, said awareness is vital and wasn't aware how bad it was until it happened to her own family.
"I didn't realize how detrimental it was to a family. You should always come together as a family to take care of that person. I think getting the word out and letting everybody know you're not alone is very important," said Thompson.
