DAVENPORT, Iowa. (KWQC) - Davenport’s Centennial Park served as the venue for a vigil Saturday evening for the lives lost in recent violence across the United States.

Organizers said the vigil was an opportunity to grieve with family, friends and neighbors while standing in solidarity.

The vigil comes just weeks after Charlie Kirk was killed on a university campus in Utah and the Annunication Catholic School shooting in Minneapolis.

Saturday night’s vigil focused on the importance of unity.

“I think it’s important we come around not to just specifically honor Charlie Kirk, but to commit ourselves to being a loving force in the earth and speaking truth and doing it in a respectful way,” community member David Pautsch said.
