PRESTON, Minn. — The Preston Historical Society is set to host a soft opening for the new Depot Museum and Riverfront Center on October 4 from 2 pm to 5 pm at 304 Fillmore Street East.

This event marks the culmination of several years of planning and fundraising efforts. The society began preparations in 2021 by securing grants and collaborating with the City of Preston to lease the city-owned Preston Dairy and Farm building.

By December 2024, they reached their fundraising goal of $400,000, enabling construction to start in April 2025. The new facility, designed to resemble the original train depot, will highlight Preston’s railroad, river, and agricultural history.

The rougly 1,000 square foot event center, featuring modern amenities, will be available for rent year-round. Community m
