The Community Resource Project hosted its annual "Literacy is Key" event at Rainbow Park in Sacramento, featuring book readings from local authors, giveaways and community resources, along with face painting, crafts, food and live performances.

Organizers also said the event is designed to get kids reading at a young age and that reading books creates positive habits that can stay with a child throughout their life. Every family who attended received a free book to take home.
