BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Mississippi Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson joins Bill and Hugh on News This Week with a look at the new seafood labeling law’s task force, as well as what happened with Quality Seafood’s recent catfish incident, current farming conditions in Mississippi, and his entering the race for Mississippi governor.

Mississippi’s new seafood labeling law took effect July 1. Its goal is to ensure transparency in the seafood industry and build greater consumer confidence by requiring all seafood to be labeled either ‘domestic’ or ‘imported.’

The law also created a seafood labeling task force, which Gipson is a part of. The task force, along with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR), is helping enforce the law across the state.
