In an exciting, down-to-the-wire finish, the Hobbton Middle School Wildcats held on to win their first game of the season against a determined Sampson Middle School team. The final was 16-14, Wildcats, in overtime.

The Dark Horses struck first with a score at 3:58 in the first quarter. The score came on a 15-yard run with the two-point conversion giving them an 8-0 lead.

The two teams jockeyed for field position until the 49-second mark in the third quarter when the Wildcats picked up a Sampson fumble,scoring from 40 yards out. With the two-point conversion extra points, the score was knotted at 8-8 where it ended as time ran out.

In the overtime period, the Dark Horses had the ball first and scored on their second attempt. The Wildcats stopped the PAT attempt leaving the score a 14-8.
