McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen announced a six week road closure near the convention center.

According to a traffic advisory issued by the city, both lanes of Convention Center Boulevard and Interstate 2 will be closed to allow for the installation of convention center signage.

The closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 22, and expected to remain that way for about six weeks.

Convention Center Boulevard is the road that runs through the middle of the shopping and restaurants in the Palms Crossing area.

There are other entrances into the shopping complex, including South 29th Street on the east side and South Ware Road on the west side.

City officials advise motorists to schedule ahead and plan for alternative routes.
