Police said charges are pending and there is no ongoing threat to the public

Police say charges are pending after multiple Calgary Transit officers were assaulted with bear spray early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Macleod Trail and 6th Avenue S.E. at around 6:43 a.m. Sunday.

Police say Calgary Transit officers were engaging with two individuals when one of them sprayed bear spray toward the officers before fleeing.

The affected officers were treated at the scene while CPS officers searched for the offenders.

“One of the offenders was located a short time later and a second was taken into custody at approximately 8:15 (a.m.),” CPS said.

Police said charges are pending and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
