BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture eliminated future Household Food Security Reports. USDA called the reports "redundant" and "politicized" in a press release announcing the decision.

The survey tracked food insecurity and relied on what are called "Food insecure conditions," which included being unable to afford balanced meals, cutting the size of meals, or being hungry due to insufficient funds for food, among others. If a household met three of the food-insecure conditions, the household was labeled "Low food security." If a household met six or more food-insecure conditions, they were labeled "very low food security."

The final USDA survey found North Dakota fared far better than national averages in the three-year window of the final study. North Dakota saw 8.
