MANHATTAN, NY – An off-duty Department of Homeless Services peace officer was taken into custody Saturday morning following an assault arrest in Chelsea.

At about 6:58 a.m., 31-year-old Nyjhia Rivers Jones was arrested within the 10th Precinct. She was charged with assault, police said.

Authorities did not immediately release details about the alleged incident or whether anyone was injured.

The Department of Homeless Services has not issued a statement regarding the arrest.
