MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Among the panels at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference this weekend was one that asked gubernatorial candidates about the issues Michigan faces.

The panel — co-moderated by News 8 political reporter Rick Albin — included former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, former Speaker of the House Tom Leonard and Senate Republican Leader Eric Nesbitt, all of whom have said they are running for Michigan governor.

"We got to shake up the status quo in Lansing. We got to be able to make it in Michigan again," Nesbitt told News 8 before the event. "Our workers, our small business owners, our farmers, our families, and this is what it's all about."
