WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - Community members had a chance to learn about robotic surgeries and procedures at an event hosted by Aspirus Health on Saturday.

The Surgery Robotic Community Day welcomed the public to hear from providers from multiple specialties, who shared personal experiences, highlighted the benefits of robotic procedures, and even showed how the devices worked.

In the packed conference room, doctors answered questions from the audience, explaining the benefits of using the machines, which doctors and proceduralists control.

Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Amanda Eilers said the robots helped with surgeries on many body parts, including the heart, lungs, and gallbladder.
