DES MOINES, Iowa —
About three dozen people walked along Evelyn K. Davis Park in Des Moines Saturday evening.
But they carried signs with the faces — and legacies — of hundreds more. Each face is a memorial to someone who lost their life to drug or gun violence.
One of those faces was Marion Harris, the son of Joyce Webster, who died over a decade ago.
"This, to me, is like it still happened yesterday, you know?" Webster said. "He's one of the loves of my life. A part of me died when he died."
Mothers Against Violence founder Calvetta Berry started the nonprofit after Harris' death. Berry said Saturday's Victim Walk is a way to honor the memories of those gone.
