Ukrainian attacks on Russia's Belgorod border region have killed three civilians while Russian shelling of eastern Ukraine has left a man dead, officials say.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, wrote on Telegram that a woman was killed when shelling struck a private home in the border town of Shebekino while a man died in a drone strike on the village of Rakitnoe.

In a later report, Gladkov said one person was killed and five injured when a drone struck a car in another village in the same district.

The Belgorod region has come under regular attack from Ukrainian forces since Russia ordered tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022.
