The Philadelphia sports community lost a legend as former Flyers’ goalie Bernie Parent died.
Parent, who was 80, was a two-time Stanley Cup champion and one of the greatest goaltenders in Philadelphia Flyers history.
"The Philadelphia Flyers and Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Bernie Parent, a true legend, one of the most famous and beloved players, and most popular figures in the history of the organization and city of Philadelphia," the Flyers said in a statement.
Parent was an original Flyers and during the 174 and 1975 Stanley Cup Finals, he was dominant in clinching both Cup finals with shutout victories. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs. He won the Vezina Trophy for the league's best goaltende
