FARRELL, Pa. - A West Middlesex man has died after being shot early Sunday at a bar in Farrell, authorities said.

Brandon D. Smith, 45, was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m. at the emergency department of UPMC Horizon Shenango, according to a news release from Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati. Libonati said Smith died from a gunshot wound to the chest and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

According to Mercer County dispatch, the shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at Yank's Place on Idaho Street. Smith was transported by ambulance from the scene of the incident.

The City of Farrell Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
