After a 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, the Reds now maintain a five-game win streak, which includes a sweep over the Cubs in an extended four-game series.
This win streak has also come at the same time that the New York Mets have lost 11 of their last 15 games, allowing the Reds to take the final playoff spot from the Mets.
Both teams now stand at an 80-76 record after Sunday's round of games. But because the Reds won a majority of their games against the Mets this season, the Reds would advance over the Mets in a tie-breaker scenario.
