HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX 11) — African American pride was on full display as the 56th annual African American Day Parade kicked off in Harlem Sunday.

The streets of Harlem came alive as hundreds gathered for the parade — a vibrant celebration of Black culture, pride, and community. James Wilson attends the parade every year.

“I come out just to get away from all the negativity and get around my group of people, and I feel good being here,” he said.

Colorful floats, marching bands, and dancers made their way down Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard as revelers lined the sidewalk, taking in a tradition that has put African American heritage at the forefront for the past five decades.
