A 51-year-old woman died Saturday afternoon when she was struck by a car in a chain-reaction crash while crossing a street in Jamaica, Queens, police said.
The fatal accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Liberty Avenue near the Van Wyck Expressway service road when two women were crossing the street, according to the Daily News .
A 58-year-old woman driving a 2008 Toyota Scion was traveling west on Liberty Avenue and stopped in the left-turn lane to allow the pedestrians to pass.
A 65-year-old woman driving a 2021 Mercedes-Benz C 300 then rear-ended the Scion, sending the Toyota into the two pedestrians, police said.
According to police, the impact pinned the 51-year-old woman underneath the Scion. Emergency medical personnel transported her to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronoun
