Tigers designate two-time World Series champion for assignment after awful stint with team

The Detroit Tigers have had a rough final stretch of the season, with their control of the AL Central being threatened. Now, it seems they’ve made a move to try and do some damage control.

According to the Tigers, they’ve designated two-time All-Star and two-time World Series Champion Charlie Morton for assignment.

RHP Tanner Rainey has been selected from Triple-A Toledo. Rainey will wear uniform #32 and be available for today’s game vs. the Atlanta Braves . RHP Charlie Morton has been designated for assignment,” the Tigers posted on X .
