MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. —
A one-year-old bear cub wandered into the backyard of a house, got scared and wound up in a tree. It took a team effort involving the McKinley County Sheriff's Office to get him down and returned to the wild.
Once he was in the home's backyard, the curious cub knocked on a window. When he saw someone inside, he got scared, climbed a juniper tree and found some berries to eat.
MCSO deputies arrived and climbed a ladder from which they were able to safely tranquilize the bear. Then they put him in a portable cage and took him to a safe location in the wild, where he can learn from his mistakes or find another juniper tree as soon as possible.
