12-year-old arrested in connection to purse thefts in Derby

DERBY, CT (WFSB) - A 12-year-old was arrested following an investigation into purse thefts in Derby.

According to police, the child was from New Haven.

They were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license, sixth degree larceny, and sixth degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Authorities said this theft investigation focused on purses stolen from a car while the victim was loading groceries.

They confirmed these were not purse snatchings and no violence occured.

Police asked anyone with information or questions to contact the Derby Police Department.
