Belief can be the most difficult additive to changing a college football program.

So when the University of Tulsa sideline sizzled with anticipation Friday night, with the Golden Hurricane was on the verge of an upset of OSU, the Boone Pickens Stadium clock seemed to move with the speed of a sun dial. Time stood still.

Then TU coach Tre Lamb called time out, to make sure the final 32 seconds were under control, and patience was tested.

“Come on, Coach,” said an exasperated TU player, who will remain anonymous to protect the guilty. “Let this game end.”

Soon enough, the game indeed ended, and belief became reality. Tulsa’s 74-year drought in Stillwater ended. The anticipation bore fruit.
