LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A song of solace echoed inside the Capitol's rotunda.

Prayers for peace symbolized hope for families in mourning.

"I'm happy that we have all the families here who didn't know people are here who know what they're going through, and we're here to help them with support in the means necessary," Lakesia Smith, a member of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc., said.

The Central Arkansas chapter of Parents of murdered children held its annual National Day of Remembrance for murder victims on Sunday.

Families filled each seat with different stories, but all shared the pain of losing a loved one.

"I thought I was alone in this world. And then I realized how many 1000s of us that are not there are so many of us here. I wasn't alone," Mona Gregory Hayes said.
